Although Sake brewing is an ancient Japanese tradition steeped in history and culture, it was becoming a dying craft. In recent years however,
a younger and more innovative generation of Japanese brewers have taken over their families breweries and given this "elixir of the gods" new life. Today Pure Premium Sake has gained recognition for its versatility, purity, complexity and incredible range of flavour profiles. It has found its way into some of the worlds finest restaurants and is increasingly becoming a part of the arsenal for world class chefs and sommeliers. As the exclusive importers of most of the brands we carry in Portugal, we are honoured to represent the amazing people, the history, the labor intensive work and craftsmanship that is indelibly infused into each and every bottle. SakeMico was founded in 2014 by Izumi Tezuka and Francis Portillo. We are the pioneer company in Portugal specializing in the import, distribution and promotion of JUNMAI-SHU (Pure Premium Japanese Sake).
Rebeca Lemos & Joel Marques who have been instrumental in our growth since our inception came on board as managing partners in 2020. We all have extensive backgrounds in restaurant and hospitality. Today we are friends, sake sommeliers, educators and partners. |
